Pegasus Trail 5

For years, the name Pegasus has been synonymous with running, but it has also been used to launch a series of trail running shoes. In 2024, this line of high-performance footwear reached its fifth edition with the release of the Nike Pegasus Trail 5.

A number of upgrades appear on the Pegasus Trail 5. One of the most notable is the ReactX foam midsole, which provides extra-soft cushioning and has better energy return than previous foams. The manufacturing process used to produce it is also far more efficient, making it a sustainable option. As well as this, the shape of the sole unit has been altered to have a curved heel that facilitates a smooth transition through the foot.

The innovations continue on the Trail 5’s outsole, which has just the right number of grip pads to deliver excellent traction on a range of surfaces without adding too much weight. Nike has also put its new high-abrasion rubber known as All Terrain Compound into key parts of the outsole, such as the forefoot and heel, thus improving its ability to withstand the rigours of rocky terrain.

On the upper, the engineered mesh balances breathable areas with more tightly knitted zones to deliver protection where it’s needed most while still maintaining comfort. In addition, the Flywire lacing system holds the foot firmly in place, the redesigned pull tab on the heel makes it easy to get the shoe on and the reflective spot on the lateral heel illuminates the wearer when running in the dark.

Along with its long list of practical features, the Nike Pegasus Trail 5 also comes in several stylish colourways. Meanwhile, the versatile design of its sole unit means that it can comfortably be worn from the city streets all the way to the rugged wilderness.
