When adidas and rising NBA superstar Anthony Edwards first teamed up in 2023, they created one of the most effective and sought after basketball shoes of its era. After two successful years, they partnered once more on the eagerly anticipated Anthony Edwards 2.

The upper of the adidas Anthony Edwards 2 features a stretchy, breathable inner fabric behind a durable layer of textile mesh and a reflective synthetic forefoot overlay. Malleable yet supportive TPU frames known as ‘Articulated Fangs’ contain the forefoot and heel, protecting and securing the foot without restricting movement. Each front fang contains a rubberised central panel with barred openings that facilitate ventilation and increase flexibility. Meanwhile, the rear frame houses a sturdy external counter which is divided into two pieces and works alongside the strong internal counter to bring stabilising structure to the heel. Inside, generous padding protects the Achilles and ensures superior comfort around the mid-cut collar, while equally plush cushioning softens the tongue. The lacing structure enhances lockdown as it incorporates internal nylon cuffs that, alongside the gusseted tongue, hug the flanks and firmly secure the foot.

The Anthony Edwards 2 combines lightweight LightStrike foam with responsive, full-length LightBoost cushioning to create a comfortable, impact absorbing and energy returning midsole. Firm enough to provide stability and support, it also delivers a low-to-the-ground feel that facilitates precision and control on court. Its sturdy, bottom-loaded TPU Propulsion Plate has been redesigned to reduce weight and increase flexibility without compromising its springy, stabilising properties. The updated herringbone traction pattern makes the rubber outsole extra-grippy, and its harder edges offer stability and durability. Along with the approximate 20% weight reduction over its predecessor, this allows fast, confident movement.

With its sleek shape and distinctive Articulated Fangs, the adidas Anthony Edwards 2 delivers a bold, dynamic aesthetic. The faux carbon-fibre effect on the heel counter is a sophisticated touch, while the striking bands along the forefoot reveal eye-catching flashes of colour from the mesh behind. An adidas logo adorns the heel, and Edwards’ iconic ‘Ant’ emblem decorates the tongue, each one slightly raised for added depth. Underfoot, the forked curves of the X-plate are visible behind the translucent centre of the outsole, and the shank evokes a razor-edged shark tooth to complete the shoe’s charismatic look.

Ahead of the release of the Anthony Edwards 2 in autumn 2025, Edwards embarked on the ‘Believe That’ tour, showcasing his extraordinary talents to passionate fans across China. Just like its predecessor, the debut ‘With Love’ colourway includes stylish pink and peach tones honouring Edwards’ mother and grandmother, while Edwards appeared in a humorous social media campaign, this time alongside actor and comedian Katt Williams. In it, Williams calls out “player haters and overrated disbelievers of all kinds”, highlights Edwards’ incredible achievements and states that he “didn’t just upgrade, he evolved.”
