Nyjah Huston is an influential skater with a history of competitive success and a reputation for fearlessly taking on huge rail slides. After joining Nike SB in the mid-2010s, he worked with the sub-label to produce a signature shoe built around his high-impact style, resulting in the hard-wearing Nike SB Nyjah series.

The SB Nyjah debuted in 2018 with an aesthetic inspired by Y2K running shoes. Its lightweight, rubberised one-piece upper is incredibly durable, and its integrated tongue offers snug, secure lockdown. Convenient pull tabs are accompanied by comfortable padding and a structured heel for stability, while the highly flexible Free-inspired sole has a tri-star tread which gives traction and control. Its foam midsole emphasises boardfeel in the forefoot before thickening through the midfoot and heel to deliver solid impact protection. The silhouette was introduced in Nike SB’s captivating “‘Til Death” video part, which showcases its ability to withstand Huston’s high-intensity skating while supporting his technical tricks and death-defying handrail grinds.

Nike released the SB Nyjah Free 2 ahead of the 2020 Olympics, which included skateboarding for the first time. Inspired by the 1997 Air Zoom Spiridon, its extensive mesh panelling increases ventilation, with a fused connection to the 360-degree rubber on its lower upper to preserve durability. The updated lacing system makes it possible to conceal the laces behind the rubber eyestay for greater longevity as its internal straps press the foot securely into the shoe for maximum boardfeel and balance.

Two years later, Nike evolved the SB Nyjah series with a new rubberised upper featuring rows of perforations and an extended heel clip that connects supportively to the lacing via floating ankle panels. This ensures solid protection around the back of the foot as the narrow toe facilitates great flick and control. The eyelets are punched directly into the rubber, contributing to its hard-wearing build and classy minimalist style, while the innovative sole combines comfort-giving foam with springy, impact-absorbing Zoom Air in the heel and a grippy honeycomb outsole that provides lightweight flexibility and boardfeel. Huston showed off the outstanding performance of the Nike SB Nyjah 3 with a collection of epic rail grinds presented in 2022’s “Need That” video part.

In 2025, the Nike SB Nyjah 4 built on its predecessors, introducing an upper with breathable synthetic mesh, tough HART rubber overlays and a sturdy integrated TPU heel clip for lightweight stability and a secure fit. Now with a traditional tongue held in place by a series of centralised lace loops, it retains Zoom Air in its hybrid MTPE midsole for a balance of comfort, impact protection, stability and fast reactivity off the ground. Lastly, its HART rubber outsole is lightweight and flexible while also being hard-wearing and offering great traction.

With its trademark abrasion-resistance and lightweight, flexible, secure-fitting design, the Nike SB Nyjah is built to withstand hard skating and support technical trick-making while maintaining a sleek, minimalist style.
