Broad flex grooves in the forefoot allow natural movement, and the strong midfoot construction makes the shoe very stable, especially when combined with the overall width of the sole.

The New Balance 530 has a captivating retro look that is stylistically versatile. Its arcing overlays curve dynamically towards the heel, contrasting its angular N logos, and sleek design lines flow along the sides of the midsole. Minimal branding adds a sophisticated, elegant feel, with 530 text on the lateral heel, a subtle “N” on the toe rubber and “NB Running” printed onto the broad tongue patch.

In 2024, its position as a sought-after fashion item was cemented by collaborations with visionary footwear designer Salehe Bembury and Italian fashion house Miu Miu. This latter partnership has so far produced a collection of distinctive and luxurious versions of the 530, including super-sleek designs that lean into the shoe’s authentic vintage vibes, classy suede-covered editions and even a Mule variant with a fully open heel, bringing a modern twist that elevates the heritage silhouette.
