During the 1980s, Nike had a big influence on basketball culture, creating memorable sports shoes such as the Air Force 1 and the Air Jordan 1. Many of these went on to become fan-favourite sneakers, and in 2019, the brand honoured this legacy with the Court Vision – a new silhouette with a clean style inspired by 80s court classics.

The Nike Court Vision has a layered upper featuring a mix of real and synthetic leather for high levels of durability. Its broad midfoot saddle, sturdy heel counter and reliable lacing system deliver outstanding lockdown, while the generous internal padding and plush tongue provide a soft, snug fit. Comfort is further enhanced by the perforations on the toe box and flanks, which ensure cooling ventilation across the foot.

A low-profile rubber cupsole supports the Court Vision, with underfoot comfort coming from its cushy removable insole. Its heritage-inspired traction pattern evokes the dependable design of nostalgic basketball models like the Dunk through sets of concentric circles which emanate out over the outsole’s forefoot and heel. While these allow the wearer to pivot with ease, the thick lugs skirting its edges offer a stable footing, and the star-shaped nodes on the toe and heel complete the classic look. These varied tread formations combine to produce excellent grip as the sleek sole unit keeps things lightweight and flexible.

With its classy throwback aesthetic and crisp leather upper, the Nike Court Vision is a stylistically versatile sneaker that can be paired with a range of outfits. Its stitched leather overlays, bold Swoosh logos, Nike-branded heel tab and woven tongue patch evoke the brand’s 80s basketball shoes, while its low-to-the-ground design creates a modern look that is undeniably stylish.

Since its 2019 release, the Court Vision has been reworked to produce several variants, including a mid-top model that offers more ankle support and the Alta edition, whose striking platform sole elevates the wearer. The Alta TXT features an even more eccentric design and various Premium editions have introduced superior materials, bringing new styles to the upper through altered Swooshes and distinctive stitching. Meanwhile, the Next Nature makes use of sustainable fabrics, and the winterised Mid has a boot-like construction to protect against harsh weather conditions.

Throughout the 2020s, the Nike Court Vision has remained a staple of the brand’s lifestyle lineup. Durable, lightweight and comfortable, and with captivating vintage charm, it offers a solid blend of attributes for casual wear.
