Dynamic Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant is known for his creativity both on and off the court. This is reflected in his signature shoes, with the Nike Ja 3 taking striking visuals and powerful performance to new heights.

A lightweight mesh forms the upper of the Ja 3, its surface marked with specially designed perforations for maximum breathability. Dozens of embossed Ja logos amalgamate into broad bands that slash across the upper, providing structure and delivering an energetically captivating look that echoes Morant’s exhilarating play style.

The Nike Ja 3 has a durable rubber cupsole containing a full-length slab of responsive ZoomX foam layered atop shreds of ZoomX leftover from the production process. This gives it a strong feeling of comfort and bounce while also making it sustainable and protecting the wearer from on-court impacts. Beneath this is an eye-catching outsole inspired by Morant’s go-to move, the Bull Dog Crossover. The tread features a monogram Ja logo pattern of micro-traction grip lines that support the kind of multi-directional cuts and swift movement required to effectively pull off such a move. This offers a great balance of speed and control, allowing players to transition quickly and confidently between defence and attack.

Ja Morant challenged the Nike design team to push the boundaries when building the Ja 3, asking them to make something “rugged” and “different” that reflects both his game and personality and which “talks” even before being laced up. They crafted a performance basketball shoe that can also be worn as a lifestyle sneaker thanks to its bold, eye-catching look. The slash marks cutting across its upper and midsole visually connect the two components while also developing the epic ‘scratch’ theme used on his first two signature models, while the translucent rubber of the sole unit shows off its supportive cushioning.

Morant is represented all over the Nike Ja 3 silhouette, from the multiple versions of his distinctive logo, one of which adorns the tongue, to the lateral Swoosh, which has been angled upwards to look like a “J”. When placed alongside the A-shaped midfoot embossments, this forms the player’s name. The storytelling continues on the outsoles, firstly with the presence of his jersey number (12) split across both left and right shoes, and then with a pair of his quotes: “A happy Ja is a scary Ja” and “I’m not even worried about proving them wrong”, showing both his playful and defiant sides.

Ahead of the Ja 3’s autumn 2025 release, Morant took to the court in the debut ‘Max Volume’ colourway during a Playoff game between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Oklahoma City Thunder, top-scoring for his team in the vibrantly captivating pink and purple shoe with its shimmering silver Swoosh.
