Suave colours decorate this Nike Vomero 18, giving it sophistication and style. Its Medium Ash upper hosts black sidewall Swooshes alongside striking rubberised bands in contrasting Pale Ivory. These dynamic stripes fade to a coppery brown as they pass behind the arched black heel counter, with its debossed Swoosh and reflective accents. Meanwhile, gradients of College Grey and other silvery tones mark the tongue tab and the centre of the midsole. Moving away from the heel, the latter effect shifts through College Grey and various lighter shades before merging into the same Pale Ivory tone as the curvaceous folds of foam surrounding it. Gum rubber adds a classic touch underfoot, where a bold black Swoosh finalises the design as it powerfully punctuates the heel.

  • Since its 2006 release, the Nike Vomero has been a key silhouette in the brand’s running collection. Always offering luxurious cushioning and elite-level comfort, it became one of three core franchises to be included in Nike’s contemporary road-running lineup. Its specialism is maximum cushioning, meaning that it provides plush comfort for steady, long-distance runs and recovery days.

  • ZoomX foam: Soft, lightweight and energy-returning foam offers excellent shock absorption and plush comfort. It has been tuned for daily training, with a more durable composition than that used on Nike’s racing shoes.

  • ReactX foam: Highly responsive foam enhances energy return while also being firm enough to ensure durability and stability. Manufactured using energy efficient methods, its carbon footprint is 43% lower than that of other midsole foams.

  • Two layers of thickly woven engineered mesh form the upper, with a full-length inner sleeve offering snug comfort around the foot. The material is also adaptive, so it allows the runner to move with freedom and flexibility.

  • Breathable zones on forefoot and flanks facilitate great airflow.

  • Structural rubberised bands reinforce the flanks.

  • Generous padding on the tongue, heel and foam collar, which is 18% softer than its predecessor, contribute to all-round comfort, delivering a snug, secure fit.

  • Sturdy heel counter with integrated pull loop stabilises the foot and allows for easy on and off.

  • Reflective elements improve visibility when running in low-light conditions.

  • Lacing structure consists of textile webbing stitched directly into the upper with a nylon cord running through it to create eyelets and a central lace loop at the bottom. This distributes tension evenly across the top of the foot, thus alleviating lace pressure and improving lockdown. Reinforced plastic eyelets at the top offer various secure lacing options for a personalised fit, and the no-sew eyestay adds a final bit of structure.

  • Semi-gusseted tongue holds the foot firmly in place, thus improving overall containment.

  • Tapered toe box suits narrower feet, while an extra wide version is available for those with wider feet.

  • Thin no-sew overlay delineates forefoot zones.

  • Dual-density setup incorporates two thick layers of foam, with ZoomX over the top of ReactX. This delivers a combination of attributes, including shock absorption, energy return and stability.

  • Max-cushioned stack of foam reaches 36mm in forefoot and 46mm in heel, with a 10mm heel-to-toe drop reflecting a comfort-driven design that protects the legs and reduces fatigue over long miles of running.

  • Subtly raised sidewalls help improve stability by guiding the foot through each step.

  • Bevelled heel favours heel strikers.

  • Moderate rocker geometry through forefoot encourages a gentle forward motion that makes for smooth transitions.

  • Firm rubber grip pads are focused in key, high-impact areas across the forefoot and around the edge of the heel to ensure traction while making the shoe more agile.

  • Reliable Waffle tread patterns on edges of forefoot and heel combine with larger lugs through the centre of the forefoot to deliver strong grip on roads.

  • Large depression through the midfoot reduces weight.

  • Relatively thick rubber adds durability for long-term use.

  • Wide base improves overall stability.

  • Flex zones across the forefoot allow natural movement.

  • Plush, comfortable insole can be removed for those requiring custom orthotics.
