The Adios Pro is one of the most successful performance shoes in adidas’ Adizero range. Introduced in 2020, its powerful design enhances running efficiency, and this was pushed to the limit with 2025’s Adizero Adios Pro 4 – a long-distance running shoe packed with innovative technologies.

The adidas Adizero Adios Pro 4’s Lightlock upper is made from a unique one-way stretch woven mesh that produces lateral stability and allows longitudinal flexion for a naturally moulded fit. Internal locking bands combine with the updated lacing system and its reinforced eyelets, the padded heel and gusseted tongue to achieve outstanding lockdown. The slim tongue cushioning maintains comfort without adding bulk, contributing to the overall featherweight feel, which is enhanced by the minimal yet durable synthetic overlays. Lastly, the foldover heel pull tab facilitates easy on and off for an efficient training experience.

A large, lightweight sole unit supports the Adizero Adios Pro 4. Its maxed-out midsole is made entirely from an updated form of Lightstrike Pro foam that is ultra-soft, shock-absorbing and highly responsive, while its impressive stack height offers exceptional comfort. Running economy has been improved by adjusting the forefoot rocker to 60% along the shoe’s length to encourage significant forward momentum and propel the wearer powerfully through their stride.

Within the midsole is a set of rigid, carbon-based bars that match the foot’s metatarsal bones. Known as Energyrods 2.0, this anatomically designed technology creates a seamless heel-to-toe transition, adds stiffening stability to the Lightstrike foam and makes for a springy sensation at toe-off. In turn, this dynamic movement activates the powerful leg muscles and improves running efficiency by reducing the energy exerted, thus allowing the athlete to go faster for longer.

The adidas Adizero Adios Pro 4 incorporates a Hyperzone Grip outsole designed using pressure mapping technology. A thin layer of Lighttraxion rubber covers most of the forefoot and heel, its cutting-edge polyurethane formulation offering great traction while also being remarkably durable and incredibly lightweight. A hard-wearing Continental rubber pad has been strategically placed in the forefoot to protect the most high-stress area and provide precise traction for a dependable toe-off. Meanwhile, a deep groove through the heel cuts weight and allows the foot to flex naturally.

The impressive sole unit and exaggerated 3-Stripes logos of the Adios Pro 4 create a striking design that is also stylishly minimalist. Its most advanced technologies are announced by elegant lettering, with the heel’s 39mm height subtly embossed onto the midsole and the futuristic Energyrods 2.0 visible through a cutout section in the midfoot. Adizero branding appears behind the translucent outsole as well as on the tongue loop and insole, while the underside of the heel tab conceals an inspirational message for resilient distance runners: “This too shall pass”.
