Velosamba
The original adidas Samba was released more than 70 years ago, but today it has expanded into a vast series of alternative models. One of these is the Velosamba; a specialised shoe designed specifically for cycling but with the classic style of the heritage sneaker.
As a dedicated cycling silhouette, the adidas Velosamba has specialised features that optimise it for urban commuting and casual riding. There is a two-bolt cleat on the bottom of the sole that is compatible with two-hole attachment systems like Shimano Pedaling Dynamics and can thus be clipped into the pedal to securely hold the rider’s foot in place.
To further enhance the cycling experience, adidas has inserted a reinforcement plate along the entire length of the midsole. This makes the shoe more robust and facilitates easier pedalling, while reflective elements on the heel and flanks illuminate the rider in low-light conditions, and an elastic lace closure system prevents the laces from getting caught up in the bike’s moving parts.
Despite being designed for cycling, the adidas Velosamba retains the timeless look of the classic Samba model, with an upper made from premium materials like leather and decorated with the famous T-toe overlay, Three-Stripes logos and other sophisticated branding. Meanwhile, the soft textile inner lining enhances comfort, and the rubber cupsole still has a good amount of flexibility and grip so that it works just as well for walking as it does for cycling.
A variety of models have been released since the first colourway was launched in 2021, including those with perforations in the forefoot for extra breathability and others made from adidas COLD.RDY insulating material to keep the wearer warm during colder months. The brand has even crafted more environmentally friendly versions like the Velosamba Vegan and the Made With Nature edition, which is composed of at least 70% renewable materials.
Suave, stylish and practical, the adidas Velosamba provides the perfect option for urban cyclists looking to transition from the bike to the streets with comfort and ease.
