Jordan 1 Mid
"White Chicago"

This elegant Jordan 1 Mid has been graced with the three colours of the fan-favourite Chicago colourway, but its primary use of one particular tone has seen it take on the nickname White Chicago. Its outsole is a great example of this as it is white all over, including through the circular grip patterns of its forefoot and the blocky lugs that bolster the heel. Even the Nike-branded section in its centre and the star-encrusted toe carry this light hue, thus connecting it visually to the midsole above, which is also entirely white. This feature’s interior is home to a bouncy pocket of encapsulated Air that, when put alongside its soft foam cushioning, provides the wearer with maximum comfort underfoot. Its exterior, meanwhile, is lightly textured up to the band of white stitching that encircles its top edge, where it becomes smooth.
With the shoe’s foundation being both supportive and sturdy, the upper delivers a fashionable aesthetic via its use of the familiar leather panels associated with this classic silhouette. Its front half is almost all white, from the forefoot mudguard to the perforated toe box and the pair of overlays wrapping up from the midsole behind it. These have been placed atop the white eyestay, meaning that they share the lowest three eyelets on each side, before the uppermost ones appear in the front of the Gym Red collar wrap. Allied with the heel counter, which comes in the same bright hue, this brings a colourful accent to the back of the shoe. The collar itself then returns to white, and the midfoot panels also emit this lighter tone.
Over the top of the foot, white laces tie up atop a black canvas tongue to bring about more strong tonal contrasts. A similar effect has been achieved on the top of the tongue, where there is a white patch with Gym Red Jumpman Air branding woven vividly through its centre. The dark tones of the tongue extend inside the shoe, where everything from the lining to the insole is black. A white Jumpman brings light to this latter feature, and a white label appears on the back of the tongue. Back on the outer, the Air Jordan Wings printed onto the lateral collar are white, as is the rectangle of leather in the middle of the heel. Stretching away from this onto the flanks are two black leather swooshes with subtle white outlines that lift them off the sides of the shoe to create a captivating 3D effect and a strong tonal contrast, thus completing the eye-catching look of this alternative Chicago design.
