Jordan 1 Retro High OG
The greyscale design of this Jordan 1 Retro High OG, whose nickname is Stage Haze, harks back to the classic colour-blocking of earlier AJ1s, giving it a heritage look. The two-tone sole unit forms a significant part of this with its Grey Fog outsole and white midsole. While the former has grip patterns that move from star-shaped nodes on the toe through concentric circles in the forefoot past Nike branding across the midfoot to solid lugs in the heel, the latter features both an encapsulated bubble of Air and foam cushioning. This ensures that the wearer has access to the maximum levels of comfort and traction underfoot.
Meanwhile, a classy aesthetic is established via the upper, firstly due to the use of fine materials like the premium white leather that shapes the midfoot panels and toe box, which has a series of ventilation holes for added breathability around the front of the foot. Suave cracked black leather wraps around the front of the toe and makes up the pair of overlays that lie on the border between the forefoot and midfoot. Each of these connects to the bottom of the eyestay and has three eyelets to accommodate the black laces. These continue up through the cracked black leather of the eyestay and end up passing through the two eyelets pressed into the band of white leather that envelops the high-top collar. More cracked leather appears behind this panel, once again in dark tones, and a set of Air Jordan Wings has been printed upon its lateral side in black.
Around the back of the shoe is a Grey Fog heel counter made from quality suede. Just above this, in the centre of the heel, there is a small piece of cracked black leather with a thin strip of the same material extending out from either side. These black bars run alongside the top of the heel counter to become the swooshes that enrich the sneaker’s sidewalls. Yet more black tones coat the tongue and the inner lining, before a flash of pink highlights the tongue in the form of embroidered Nike Air lettering in Bleached Coral. This subtle use of colour gives way to a bolder expression within the shoe as the insole is covered from top to toe in its pastel hue. A set of black Nike Air branding has been printed onto this pink surface to produce a sublime contrastive effect that completes the sneaker in style.
