Harnessing luxurious materials and classy tones, this retro Air Rift offers an abundance of elegance and style. Its full-grain leather upper features refined black panelling over an underlayer covered in mesmerising lines of grey dots. A diminutive Reflect Silver Swoosh has been embroidered into the lateral forefoot, with Nike lettering adorning the rear strap. The midsole delivers a gentle yet captivating contrast in Iron Grey, both against the smooth upper and the bold, terrain-like tread, which combines small, geometric lugs with vast grips pads for a look that exudes rugged power. Lastly, Air text has been etched into the lateral midsole, announcing the comfort-giving technology held within while also maintaining the chic, minimalist appeal of this nostalgic sneaker.
The Nike Air Rift was initially launched in 1996 as a running shoe designed to replicate the feeling of being barefoot. Inspired by the topography of Kenya’s Great Rift Valley and the country’s outstanding distance runners, the Rift was known for its unconventional aesthetic and its focus on natural motion, both of which made it a compelling silhouette. Today, it is no longer worn as a sports shoe but rather an easy-going sandal-sneaker hybrid renowned for its everyday comfort and distinctive style.
Nike Air: Encapsulated Air cushioning concealed within the midsole provides soft, bouncy comfort and shock absorption.
Split-toe design isolates the big toe, improving articulation and encouraging natural motion of the foot. It also moves the wearer closer to a barefoot state so that the foot can spread out and form a more stable base.
