Samba XLG

Today, the adidas Samba is one of the most recognisable lifestyle sneakers around, but throughout its history it has been adopted by many sporting cultures. In 2023, the brand chose to honour the connection of the footballing and skateboarding communities to this iconic silhouette by releasing a bulked-up version called the Samba XLG.

The XLG series is known for its chunky, skater-friendly aesthetic, and the adidas Samba XLG is no different. Its elevated sole unit lifts the profile of the shoe to powerful heights, while the addition of a drop-in EVA sockliner makes it extra comfortable. Generous padding has been applied to the tongue in thick bands that sit either side of the adidas-Trefoil-branded tongue patch, bringing relief from lace pressure alongside a captivating aesthetic.

A large heel tab continues the eccentric theme of the Samba XLG, as do the Three-Stripes logos which appear bold and broad on each flank. Underfoot, the rubber outsole features the same grip-giving tread patterns as the classic model, and a compelling textured effect begins on its edges before reaching up over the sides of the midsole.

The upper is made from premium materials, with smooth leather or suede forming the majority of its surface. Suede has been used to create the famous T-toe overlay for added refinement, while the inner is lined with more leather for a high-quality feel around the foot. Golden lettering then highlights the lateral flank, thus rounding out the classy design of this heritage model.

With its influences rooted in the epic history of a beloved adidas silhouette, the stylish adidas Samba XLG exaggerates the classic elements of the original design to forge a powerful sneaker that celebrates two passionate sporting communities.
