Book 2 basketball shoes
Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker released his first signature basketball trainer with Nike in 2024. Building on its popularity, the brand spent 18 months working with the NBA All-Star to make its successor, the Book 2, an even more effective performance shoe.
The upper of the Nike Book 2 comes in different forms, with some editions featuring a durable moulded synthetic material and others a breathable, lightweight mesh. Both versions incorporate the same midfoot support system, which comprises webbed bands running up each sidewall and connecting to the lacing to provide a secure, locked-in fit. Generous padding can be found throughout, ensuring comfort and helping with containment at the heel. Meanwhile, the gusseted tongue and central lace loops enhance lockdown even further, and a heel pull tab makes for convenient entry.
The Book 2’s midsole combines full-length Cushlon 3.0 foam with forefoot Zoom Air for soft comfort, reliable shock absorption and springy bounce at toe-off. Its low stack height facilitates high-quality court feel for precise control, and its sturdy, top-loaded midfoot shank supports the arch, while the thick Durapontex foam sockliner increases both comfort and responsiveness. The durable rubber outsole combines the concentric pivot circles of classic Nike basketball shoes with a herringbone tread pattern for excellent traction. Rows of solid lugs skirt the edge, and where the rubber extends over the toe, there are small grippy nodules. A lateral forefoot outrigger then keeps the player stable and balanced during quick cuts and dynamic side-to-side movements.
The Book 2 is inspired by iconic Nike silhouettes, with its radial traction pattern based on the Air Force 1 and the mesh-variant upper modelled on the classic Zoom Air Spiridon running shoe. While its functional elements make it a great performance basketball shoe, its classy aesthetic ensures off-court style. Subtle storytelling details include the cactus-needle nodes on the rubber toe cap, which were drawn by Devin himself to represent Phoenix, Arizona – the home of his NBA career. Meanwhile, the upper features “Book” and “Chapter Two” lettering to highlight the ongoing theme of his signature series.
Devin debuted the Nike Book 2 on court in late 2025, showcasing colourways that tell stories of his life and career. These include an all-black version made to honour his support for Detroit’s sports teams, a Spiridon-inspired Metallic Silver colourway with distinctive red highlights, and an edition that nods to Spike Lee’s Nike Air Raid basketball shoe from the early 1990s. In January 2026, the ‘Rising’ and ‘Phoenix’ colourways became the first official releases, both paying homage to Devin’s time at the Phoenix Suns. He helped boost the launch by appearing in a stylish campaign in the guise of a special agent, with tag lines like “Licensed for Skill” and “Move Like A Professional” in reference to his dedicated approach and on-court precision.
Designed to optimise control, comfort and underfoot feel for accurate, skilled players who want to excel, the Nike Book 2 is a high-performance basketball shoe with the aesthetic of a refined lifestyle sneaker.
