This bold Nike Air Rift 2 displays the distinctive tones of the Kenyan flag in a powerful reference to the original Y2K silhouette, which took inspiration from the country’s rich distance-running heritage. The upper combines stretchy mesh underlays in Team Dark Green with dusky black overlays. Rows of dimples arc across the flanks, culminating in a radiant Fire Red Swoosh embroidered into the lateral side of the iconic split toe. Meanwhile, its Air-cushioned midsole echoes the upper by once again contrasting the deeply captivating hues of black and Team Dark Green. A bright strip of Fire Red then strikes down the centre of the black insole, before a rubberised tongue pod rounds out the look with a concluding splash of vibrant red lettering.
The Nike Air Rift was launched in 1996 as a running shoe designed to replicate the feeling of being barefoot. Inspired by the topography of Kenya’s Great Rift Valley and the country’s outstanding distance runners, the Rift was known for its unconventional aesthetic and its focus on natural motion, both of which made it a compelling silhouette. In 2002, the model was stripped down to a sleek slip-on, which returned as an easy-going casual shoe in 2026, offering everyday comfort alongside its distinctive Y2K style.
Nike Air: Encapsulated Air cushioning concealed within the midsole provides soft, bouncy comfort and shock absorption.
