One single tone covers almost the entirety of this retro Air Rift for a look that is understated yet effortlessly stylish. A delicate pastel pink known as Light Magenta spreads seamlessly throughout everything from the adjustable straps and mixed-material upper to the bold curves of the cushy midsole and the outsole’s landscape-inspired lugs. Minimal branding includes capitalised Nike lettering on the heel, Air text stamped into the lateral midsole and an embroidered Swoosh across the toes. Intricate stitching elevates the medial midfoot, and the inner continues the elegant Light Magenta colour scheme. Here, though, a bold deviation can be found in the form of a black Nike Air logo that brings a captivating hint of rich sophistication to this graceful sneaker.
The Nike Air Rift was initially launched in 1996 as a running shoe designed to replicate the feeling of being barefoot. Inspired by the topography of Kenya’s Great Rift Valley and the country’s outstanding distance runners, the Rift was known for its unconventional aesthetic and its focus on natural motion, both of which made it a compelling silhouette. Today, it is no longer worn as a sports shoe but rather an easy-going sandal-sneaker hybrid renowned for its everyday comfort and distinctive style.
Nike Air: Encapsulated Air cushioning concealed within the midsole provides soft, bouncy comfort and shock absorption.
Split-toe design isolates the big toe, improving articulation and encouraging natural motion of the foot. It also moves the wearer closer to a barefoot state so that the foot can spread out and form a more stable base.
